Newborn Benefit
Benefit Description
This benefit may provide a $5,000 grant when an eligible member’s newborn child
does not live beyond six months of age, and/or the eligible member dies within
31 days after giving birth. The maximum grant is $10,000 due to the death of
both the newborn child and birthing mother.
The benefit also offers guaranteed insurability, issued at standard rates, on

(except for the state of New York, where the limit for guaranteed insurability
is $5,000).
